Broken Vessels On Baby's Cheeks

Editorial: Today I opened my mouth to seal the thousands, REC Bulletin Year 1, Issue 2

With this succinct phrase Willca Fernández student made it clear, in front of Tiri and Trojans, their commitment to the fight that he, along with fifty young people, to demand the government launched national resources for national universities and equal dealing with students of the universities under the control of the Executive.

Willca The success and his companions, after holding for more than a month on a hunger strike outside the offices of UNDP in Caracas, as happened before with the hunger strike before the movement against Javu OAS headquarters, demanding the release of political prisoners is a demonstration of how, faced with a serious position, courageous, determined, committed and transparent, it can curb abuse and abuse, or even reverse measures imposed by an authoritarian government.

These are not the only cases where students have stopped the misdeeds of the government, remember that the 2007 referendum to amend the Constitution must be won in large part thanks to the committed participation of students, and more recently, Bill to amend the Higher Education Act was dismissed by the President himself thanks to the great pressure exerted by the students.

And students historically in our country and worldwide, have been the major drivers of change, it suffices to show what actually happens in the Muslim world from North Africa to the Middle East, engaged in a series of changes in post for greater freedoms, and invariably, the movements have been promoted and fueled by young students.

At this historical moment that passes through Venezuela, youth once again stands as a major force for the rescue of democracy, they are guarantee for civil society and democratic political party that wins obtain forces democratic not caught by the scheme or negotiated by those only safeguard their selfish interests.

From Citizens Meeting Network we hope for the success of students in their struggles, which are also our struggle, and because they actively join in the face of the 2012 Presidential election.
