Best regards and welcome to this humble blog:
decided to start driving again, treat, graphically and shallow , an urban issue of great significance in the proper understanding of the city and offering multiple prisms, both its interface with its components and in its interpretation and weighting them.
We refer to the landscape. The landscape as a catalyst that not only seeks a healthy mood to enjoy it through their senses, but in part acts as a catalyst for different forms of settlement and the activities carried out on it. The landscape and therefore the correct legal instrument through agreements or other conventional outreach tools, we can ensure the correct understanding and teaching the necessary work to enhance and give the boost you need this item.
We decided, therefore, procure a verbatim reproduction of an interview with Joan Nogué, Director of the Landscape Observatory of Catalonia. Worth reading carefully and reflect, post on issues that are still inconclusive. But above all, it is worth bearing in mind the movements that occur in this sense, raising awareness and making sure that the path is traversed, timidly, "is due. We leave you with the interview published in Econoticias.com and whose link is as follows:

First, if you wear long, we would like you to tell us, in case any reader does not know you, about the concept and objectives have the Landscape Observatory, and also what is currently working in the Observatory.
The Landscape Observatory is the result of a progressive social awareness of the deterioration of our landscapes. At its origin, is an initiative of civil society: at any given time several units decide to take a step and contact with the administration to carry out this initiative together.
The Landscape Observatory, which is organized as a consortium, is an advisory body for the administration and awareness of society in general in terms of landscape. One of its main functions is to develop catalogs of the landscape of Catalonia, an instrument that incorporates landscape in regional planning and a key element to facilitate the connection between territorial and urban planning in terms of policy implementation landscape. The catalogs define strategic and specific guidelines that can help improve the quality of landscapes of Catalonia and, ultimately, the quality of life for its citizens. They represent, moreover, a powerful tool for advocacy and education and will in the near future an important role in increasing public awareness in relation to the landscape. There are currently four approved catalogs (Terres de Lleida, Camp de Tarragona, Terres de l'Ebre and Regions of Girona) and are now working to complete the other three (Metropolitan Region of Barcelona, Comarques Centrals and High Pyrenees and Aran) by month July.
Regarding other activities developed by the Observatory, I would highlight four projects: The
first publication in a few weeks of the fifth book in the library of the Observatory. I mean a great work on landscape and education, a result of the international workshop, under the same title, held in Barcelona in November 2009.
The second is the project Wikipedra (www.catpaisatge.net / wikipedra). This is a web 2.0 portal on the heritage of dry stone huts in Catalonia developed by the Centre with the collaboration of the "Social Work CatalunyaCaixa" and local entities engaged in inventory and restoration of this heritage so unique configures most rural landscapes of Catalonia It was presented this past April 5. This website provides information on the location and characteristics of inventoried barracks, to know what landscapes are more buildings of this type and also offers the possibility of introducing other people to participate barracks in the territory.
The third project is "intangible Soundscape and territories" by the Grup PaisatgesonorUB the Department of Sculpture at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Barcelona. In this case, the Centre hosts the web page of that project that aims to determine what and how are the soundscapes of Catalonia and in a few weeks presented.
Finally, another project that we hope makes it special is the collaboration with the Council of Europe with the establishment of the Information System of the European Landscape Convention (ELCIS). The Observatory supports this project since January 2009 as part of a working group of the Council of Europe for the creation of this instrument to follow closely the implementation of the Convention. The system is based on a powerful database maintained by the same states, European regions and local authorities. This database contains information on landscape policies being implemented in the respective states and European regions. Once running, the system will enable institutions, organizations, professionals, universities and the public at large access to the main information and experiences of protection, management and landscape management in Europe, facilitating exchange and cooperation in interstate and interregional implementation of the European Landscape Convention.
2. Your organization has developed numerous instruments such as letters, catalogs and the Guidelines for Landscape or Landscape Quality Objectives, with the Catalan society that previously did not, how do you think that values the contribution of Catalan society.
Since its inception, the Observatory has had a great involvement with the entities that are linked to territory, to the point that many of these entities have joined our Board of Directors and Advisory. This complicity is manifested, for example, in the catalogs of landscape, in which participation has played a very important: more than 5000 people, with names and surnames, have contributed their views and proposals for improving the landscape . In this regard, I believe that people value in particular to take it into account, and more on a subject as cross as the landscape.
3. Do you feel that this new way to approach the territory, and those treated with it, you can generate some change in society, no matter how shy he is and what kind? This regard we would like you to tell us from your experience if you consider that there has been progress on the path to a new culture of the area and where they have found their greatest allies, and where your most bitter enemies.
changes in how society interacts with the territory are slow and very difficult to perceive in the short term. Despite this, yes I have noticed that over recent years, the landscape 'penetrating' political agendas, social and cultural and even economic. People are increasingly aware of the value of landscape-sometimes react so indignantly when it degrades their immediate environment, landscapes referential, especially when it has not been consulted, what often happens.
In this sense, our work is to continue raising awareness and management through the publication of books, seminars, dissemination of all information related to landscape, advising institutions and, above all, providing special attention to education. At bottom, the question of landscape, like many others, is a cultural issue, the cultural level of a country.
4. One of the basic tools common to all the work you do, would be public participation, which iniciáis with each of your activities; Do you consider that this has helped people feel more identified with their views? Are you having any impact on the government through its policies?
As I mentioned earlier, we believe that the participation of society is indispensable in our activities. We all know that public participation is applied in many areas, but what really matters is that this participation is real, to take into account the contribution of society and individuals and entities involved are matched, that is, they know that their input was useful and see how it has been included in the final document. I believe that, if done this way, people are more involved in these processes.
5. At present, what has meant the Territory Award SCOT (Societat Catalana d'Ordenació of the territory) by the Catalog of Landscape in the Regions of Girona, who have just received?
Since then we have satisfied a lot to be recognized with this award not only the landscape catalog the Regions of Girona, but the instrument itself. Indirectly it is rewarding to all of the seven catalogs of the landscape of Catalonia. Develop and apply this instrument has led to many hours of work of many people: academics and researchers, professionals, experts and, of course, civil society itself. This award has renewed strength to continue working on the same line of the last six years, and even more momentum.
6. From your experience, and a question we like to do ever since the platform to the various experts we interviewed, is what you highlight elements or instruments to promote sustainability in the territories.
All efforts made in the field of raising awareness of society are useful for that, little by little, they will assimilate this new culture of the territory that is completely linked to sustainable development.
7. Finally, how could generate synergies between institutions and the tools that they have, as the Platform for Urban Sustainability and Territorial OSE-to advance the creation of a new culture of the area?
The work you are developing for the platform is very useful for generating this synergy which I speak. The future, also in the context of the new culture of the territory-pass around: build bridges, forge alliances, joining forces, highlighting complementarities, collaborate, cooperate and collaborate.
